It’s a Hippie Hippie Shame.

It’s a hippie, hippie shame that I don’t have more time to devote to making these accessories!

What started off as a hobby, making things I like and wearing them, has now become a part time job.  I love that people like what I make, and am flattered that they pay me for it.  It’s just hard to find the time and energy to put it all together.  We will be moving in the near future to a bigger house and hopefully I will have my very own craft room!  That’s where all the magic will happen!!

Making My Memories

I hope everyone had a long relaxing weekend!  Mine was a whirlwind!!  Not only was it the 4th of July; it was also the weekend my hubbs and I celebrated five years of being in love and married.

I’m not gunna lie.  It was kinda magical…We went for long strolls on the beach, tanned in the sun, laughed at drunk people by the pool…you get the idea.   It was just him & me:)   Doing everything we love, and nothing at all at the same time.  It was the best weekend ever!!

I love this man.  He is the “boy kind of me.”  We get each other.  That’s all there is to it.  Happy Love Day to my mate!! May this year of marriage be better than the last!

How To Get Perfect Messy Beach Hair

I LOVE summer time!!!  The heat is on full blast here in Florida, and the beach is only 40 minutes away!  I haven’t been able to get to the beach as much as I want lately. :(   My new ‘Big-girl’  job is full time and the weekends are full of other motherly duties.  Still, I want to feel like I’m enjoying this summer, so I have perfected my messy beach wave hair routine!

pic:weheartit

Here are a few tips to getting that messy beach hair without having to go to the beach.

1.  I start by washing my hair on the first day.  I dont use any special shamp/condt combo. I just wash normally.  Condition the ends only. Then towel dry.

Enter Products!! I use a bit of  Aussie Mousse. Yepp, the junk from CVS.  I apply it mainly to the roots, and work it in to the back of my hair for lift.  Then I use a dime size amount (i have middle of the back length hair) of  (Un)Dressing Cream from B&B.  This stuff was just recently brought to my attention by my hair stylist, and it is amazing!!  You can put it on wet hair and air dry for a matte frizz free finish. Or you can apply it to your roots and blow dry for the ‘second day’ hair look on the first day.

Note: I do have to mention that the type of cut you have also works wonders for this messy undone look.  In the pic below I have all one length hair in the back with only a few layers framing my face.  It was much harder to achieve the look in the back  and around the face b/c all the hair wanted to do was lay flat.  This second picture has my new cut. (Thanks Aimee!!!!) This is like a long mullet. lol!  Its short layers on top of my longer hair.  It’s really choppy, and makes great waves all around.

Back to the routine…after applying the B&B cream to the middle area of hair in a “squishing” motion. (i place hair in between my palms and squish it and rub it back and fourth kinda like making dread locks)  Then I usually just air dry and run to work, but if I have more time or want more waves I do a little extra.  At night I will twist into separate messy buns, pin and spray with a bit of hairspray.  If i really want to get fancy with it, I will take large hair clips and jumble up sections of hair and clip to scalp making sure i give big waves to the top of the crown for volume.  Then I let it out shake it and spray with Tresseme’ medium hold hairspray.

This will last for 2-4 days for me.  If it gets a little frizzy or lackluster I will spray the ends with some Surf Spray by B&B as well.  This stuff tends to dry my hair out,  so use sparingly.

Voila’!

I hope I have helped you get that perfect messy beach hair without the trip to the beach…although, I’d much rather go there and enjoy the sand and get real beach hair;) o-well, this will have to do. And if you live in the Orlando area, Aimee @ Alta Moda Salon is an amazing hairstylist! Call 407 481 8883 to make an appointment!

I’ve been M.I.A.

I have been away from my desk for 4 months now, and so much has changed.

I will give the run down, and then I will post pics of what I have been up to.

I got a new job…a real one.  It was weird at first, getting up and leaving the house with out making breakfast for the boys.  Sometimes its hard to leave them at all, but now we are used to it. Life is good!

I do want to continue my blogging, and from the looks of it so do you.  I have been getting steady traffic and haven’t posted anything new in 4 months.  I guess that’s a sign.  I will be posting randomness until I figure out what I can do on a regular schedule.

Thanks for being patient!!

Stop and Read the Leaves

I love when you find something unexpected in an ordinary place.

I took my cute little family to the park for some fun in the sun.  We played basketball, and football, and jumped out of the swings.  It was a magical kinda day.  Then to top it all off….I spotted this leaf.  It had a hand written message on it.  To my understanding it’s in French.  Je’ Taime’, means I love you.  I’m not sure what the rest of it says, but I am sure that it was the most beautiful thing I had seen that day.  It made me want to write little notes on all of the fallen leaves and scatter them about town.

I hope you all slow down a little this New Year and see the beauty that is all around you…and sometimes right under your feet.

Happy Saturday!!!

This is what I wore yesterday to Grandma’s Birthday lunch and the Wig Parade.   Dress:Thrifted   Cardigan: F21   Jacket: London Fog Vintage  Tights: Marshalls  Boots:  Thrifted

I may or may not be starting to do outfit posts.  Would that be something you are interested in seeing more of??

Christmas Highlights

I had a wonderful Christmas Holiday with the Fam.  I love them very much and they make me smile.  We continued our tradition of looking at Christmas lights in one neighborhood that goes all out.  The boys loved it this year!  The hubbs and I started visiting this house when we were dating and when boy #1 came along we just bundled him up and took him along for the ride.  Now that we have 2 boys it’s double the fun at this time of the year!!   On Christmas Eve we went out to Mt. Dora and visited with cousins that we don’t get to see as much as we should. Why is it so hard to stay in touch with Family? Does anybody else have that issue?  I guess that’s life, huh?  It was fun to get all the little ones together.  We ate chili and loads of homemade cookies. It was yummy!!  I am truly blessed to have such a loving Family.  Oh, and I got the Minnetonka Moccasins that have been showing up in my dreams!!  It was a  magical Christmas!  Now it’s time to pack it all up and get ready for a New Year! Wahoooooo! xoxApril
